Rendering Facility in Eastern Canada
Case Study
The Challenge:
When this world class rendering facility in Eastern Canada needed a major upgrade on their interior drainage systems, they called DELC Drains. Their existing system was outdated and required a complete overhaul throughout the facility. Due to the ongoing challenge of maintaining the highest standards of hygiene, the company understood their need for better drainage in critical areas and, in general, for an improved approach to wastewater management. They looked to us for an integrated solution.
Solution and Outcome:
After thorough consultation with the client and careful consideration of various options for drainage, the client decided on an intricate system of slot drains. This solution was considered the most efficient, the least invasive, and the most cost effective.
We were engaged to design and build custom slot drains and sump pits throughout the entire facility. This consisted of over 400 lineal feet of DELC slot drain, including complicated miters, T connections, and lengths to accommodate the existing drainage layout. In some cases, the drains exceeded 20” in depth due to the length of the run.

OWNER Rendering Facility in Eastern Canada
Our team expertly designed and built the system, and then proceeded to install it onsite. The installation was performed by Eurocrete and included the application and integration of their coatings throughout the facility. A team of skilled welders and other workers completed the installation in only two weeks. For a completely custom job in a very active facility, the efficient install was highly appreciated.
For the owners, managers, and workers alike, the new drainage system transformed the facility and brought their operations up to the hygiene standards that they had expected. Not only was food safety improved, but so was worker safety. In addition, along with the overall result of a cleaner and updated environment, the flooring and drainage overhaul increased the confidence of the facility’s personnel throughout and positioned the company for long-term growth.
